Northern Heritage Roofing was tasked with carrying out sympathetic slate roof repairs on a former police house in Tynemouth, Tyne and Wear. The building, rich in character and history, had sustained damage to several slates over time. Our objective was to restore the integrity of the roof using traditional techniques and reclaimed Welsh slate to maintain its original appearance.

Scope of Work

• Roof inspection to identify damaged and missing slates
• Careful removal of approximately 75 broken or slipped slates, including hip slates
• Sourcing and installation of matching reclaimed Welsh slates
• Replacement of broken hip slates to retain the traditional roof line
• Use of copper nails for secure and long-lasting fixing
• Final inspection to ensure weatherproofing and uniform appearance
