Project Overview

Northern Heritage Roofing was contracted to install a new GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) flat roof on a residential property in Hetton-le-Hole, Tyne and Wear. The installation was carried out over a lower-level rear kitchen extension flat roof, where the existing roof covering had become weathered and no longer provided effective waterproofing. GRP was selected for its seamless, long-lasting, and low-maintenance qualities—ideal for flat roof applications.

Scope of Work

• Removal and disposal of the existing flat roof system
• Inspection of the roof deck and reinforcement of timber structure where required
• Supply and installation of new OSB3 decking boards
• Application of GRP base coat, matting, and topcoat to form a seamless waterproof surface
• Detailing around upstands, edges, and wall junctions
• Final inspection and clean-up

Challenges & Solutions
