Project Overview

Northern Heritage Roofing was hired to upgrade the roof edge and ridge systems on a detached residential property in Framwellgate Moor, Durham. The existing mortar-based systems had deteriorated over time, leading to loose components and water ingress concerns. The client opted for a modern dry ridge and dry verge solution for durability and reduced maintenance.

During the installation, a number of cracked Double Roman concrete tiles were identified just below the ridge line. These were replaced with new matching brown tiles as part of the repair work.

Scope of Work

• Removal of old mortar verge and ridge systems
• Installation of a new ventilated dry ridge system
• Fitting of dry verge units to both gable ends
• Replacement of several broken Double Roman tiles below the ridge line
• Securing all components with mechanical fixings in accordance with BS 8612
• Full site clean-up and final inspection

Challenges & Solutions
